I am a senior associate and lawyer at WINT, specialising in business disputes and arbitration. International complex court disputes is the area I excel best. A lot of my experience comes from defending clients’ interests in front of the European Court of Justice and international courts of arbitration.
The most significant projects I have worked on include representing Snoras bank in international disputes with foreign banks regarding the compensation of damages exceeding €350 million, and helping to design a legal strategy for these cases. I was also a part of the team representing the same bank undergoing bankruptcy in a case regarding the preliminary ruling of the European Court of Justice on the application of the Financial Collateral Directive.
I have also worked on multiple court cases that have reached the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania and which, for the first time, involved the prohibition for economic operators to conclude contracts under the Law on the Protection of Objects of Importance to Ensuring National Security.
In my years of legal practice, I have developed an interest in alternative dispute resolution methods. In 2016, in cooperation with the International Academy of Dispute Resolution and Mykolas Romeris University, our team organised the first international mediation competition in Lithuania. I also contribute articles to the academic journal Arbitražas: teorija ir praktika (Arbitration: Theory and Practice) and my alternative to podcasts is listening to Gary Born’s International Arbitration Lectures provided by Kluwer Arbitration.
Resolving disputes requires exceptional creative skills. I get my inspiration from travelling, or at least from browsing through blog posts about my six-month trip in Asia as I sip a home-made kombucha I learned to make during my time in the East.
