Marius Matiukas was involved in the preparation of the study initiated by the European Commission on the amendment to the Rome I Regulation. The regulation which came into effect in 2009 provides for the law applicable to contractual obligations. It sets out EU-wide rules for determining which national law should apply to contractual obligations in civil and commercial matters involving more than one country.
Marius Matiukas is a co-author of individual chapters covering all EU Member States in the EU-wide study on the law applicable to insurance contracts.
The project carried out in 2017 involved the analysis of different parts of the study concerning Lithuania, the systematization of analyses provided by foreign subcontractors and coordination of the study.
