In 2019, WINT’s associate partner Marius Matiukas and associate Edvinas Džulis assisted Maxima, the largest retail chain in the Baltic states, in obtaining long-term funding for environmentally-friendly projects. In August, Maxima LT and Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) signed a ten-year loan contract for €52 million, whereby the companies of Maxima Grupė in the Baltics will use these funds for green investment.
By signing the loan contract, Maxima LT undertook to invest in energy efficiency solutions to be introduced in Maxima stores, thus reducing operating costs. The funds will be used to renovate refrigeration systems and cooling technology in the stores, to install energy-efficient lighting and build solar energy systems. It is expected that solar systems installed in the stores will produce 13 GWh of electricity annually.
